That curiosity takes me across research labs, classrooms, public spaces and organisations, shaping how I investigate, teach, communicate and collaborate.

Across my work, I follow questions until they become tangible: something that can be built, tested, explained or experienced. Finding an answer is only part of the point; what matters is creating something that can lead to better questions, new possibilities and further action.

A researcher who builds, teaches and brings science into the open

I’m a postdoctoral researcher in Software Engineering at the Department of Computer Science, University of Pisa. I work on emerging technologies and complex systems, with a current focus on Quantum Software Engineering. My research has moved from IoT and smart environments through Cloud–Edge and distributed systems to quantum computing, including collaborations in Spain and Norway.

Alongside research, I have spent years teaching coding, robotics and computing to children and high-school students, as well as university students and professional learners. I design and deliver workshops and learning experiences, and I write and speak about science through events and festivals that give people opportunities to encounter technical ideas, ask questions and take part.

My work also extends beyond academia through collaborations with organisations navigating new technologies and technical change. I design workshops and training that help teams develop the knowledge and practical skills to work independently with unfamiliar technologies and concepts. I also contribute research and engineering experience to R&D, architecture and technical decisions when the right direction is not yet obvious.

When computation changes, software has to change with it

My research asks how Software Engineering can help us build, evaluate and operate computational systems that are heterogeneous, distributed and still evolving.

Within that broader question, my current work in Quantum Software Engineering explores distributed quantum execution, orchestration, benchmarking, reliability and reproducibility.

I work through software and experiments as much as papers, creating open tools, datasets and infrastructure that make ideas testable across different technologies and execution environments.

I want learning to begin with a question: something surprising enough to make what happens next worth investigating.

From there, I give learners the concepts, tools and room to investigate for themselves: to experiment, build, make mistakes, improve an idea and keep going deeper.

My teaching spans first encounters with coding and robotics for children and teenagers; Cloud Computing, Software Engineering and Quantum Computing at university; and workshops and technical training for professional learners around AI, emerging technologies and digital skills. I work across laboratories, structured courses, summer programmes and focused workshops, adapting the depth and format to the audience.

Make understanding a public experience

I see science communication as more than simplifying difficult ideas. It is about creating ways for people to encounter them, ask questions and take part.

I do that through talks, articles, workshops, festivals and interactive experiences that bring computing, science, research and emerging technologies into spaces where specialist knowledge is not a prerequisite for curiosity.

Whether the audience is encountering Quantum Computing for the first time or looking for a new way into a familiar topic, I want people to leave with more questions they are equipped to pursue.

Make better decisions about complex software systems and emerging technologies

I work with organisations on technical decisions that sit between research and engineering: evolving a complex software system, evaluating an emerging technology, or determining what needs to be tested before making a larger commitment.

Sometimes the useful outcome is a clearer technical assessment; sometimes it is a prototype, an experiment or a tailored learning experience. In each case, the goal is to make the next decision clearer and give teams the understanding and practical capability to carry it forward.
